Today we began a poetry unit. I think poetry is about love and the suffering of a heart break. I personally love poetry. Sometimes I helps you out in life and maybe just for entertainment.
We read Love That Dog by Sharon Creech
Pause #1: I think anybody can write poetry. You just need to believe in your selves. Put words that rime to make a phrase and make sure it make since into what you’re writing. Put a lot of effort into it and I’m sure you will succeed.
Pause#2: you can write about any normal, daily things and write about how you feel about it. If you want to make up things that you can write about. Ex: dogs, cats, whales, and fish. Just use your imagination and you’ll go far. If you want to read some other poems and get some ideas.
Pause#3: if you have some extra time on your hands then try and write something’s of how you feel and add lots of description. If you feel weird about your writing then get someone to read it and get there opinion and don’t just do one person do 3 or 4 people and see if they like would love it to.
Pause#4: some times use sounds in your poem. Sometimes use shapes in your poems or write your poem in a shape. Ex: a dog, a tree, a heart, an oval. Don’t let other peoples opinions get you down. If you like it then you have made your self happy don’t worry about other peoples thoughts. Sometimes write poetry just to get feeling out so you won’t keep your feeling bottled up.
Pause#5: try not to use someone else’s words or just don’t copy them. Don’t make other people write your poetry for you. Try and write to your inspirer and send them your story and maybe get some more ideas from them if they read your poem.
Pause#6: when things pop into your head try to write the ideas down. After you are done writing the poem check your words to make sure that they are spelt write even when you’re typing. Add some sadness to the poem if you want to and show your poem to the world or a small portion of it.
End: make sure to use a good ending don’t just cut off at the end. If you have sad poem try and make sure to make it happy then. Add details and rhyming words. If you’re lucky maybe your inspirer will pay you a visit. Try and put your inspirers name on the cover of you story.
Jack got his inspiration from Walter d. Meyers. He was an author in the story and he used every day things in a normal day life.
